My name is Joseph, and I use he/him pronouns.
As social creatures, we all need others to make sense of the internal and external worlds that we live in. Support and relationship are crucial if we want to move toward healing, growth, and wellness. Whether this is your first time exploring therapy or you’ve been here before, I want to first honor your courage and congratulate you for seeking support. Starting this journey isn’t always easy, but it’s a powerful step toward the change that you desire.
As a multiracial counselor born and raised in Portland Oregon, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities. I bring both personal and professional insight into the complexities of identity, belonging, and navigating systems that don’t always make space for everyone. You deserve a space where you can show up just as you are, without judgment or pressure to be anything else. As your counselor, I am dedicated to collaboratively creating this space together, and utilizing it help you reconnect with your own voice, values, and sense of self.
My approach to counseling is rooted in being an authentic human. This means that I celebrate the natural and cultural diversity that exists among us. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, so in addition to leaning into relationship, curiosity, creativity, and humor, I will draw from a range of therapeutic modalities in our work together. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), existentialism, and mindfulness-based practices. More than anything though, I tailor our work to you.
You are a unique individual with unique experiences that only you can fully understand. You are the expert in your life, and ultimately the driver of your own healing journey. My role is to walk alongside you, support your process, and help you move toward the life you want to live. Growth is a product of relationship, honesty, awareness, acceptance and skill development, and with the right support every human can achieve this. Including you.
