Sarah Waltrip

Hi, I’m Sarah (she/her). I believe that connected relationships are at the heart of well-being. Together in a therapeutic alliance, we will explore your goals, strengths, beliefs, and patterns in depth, empowering you to make choices that help you feel like your best self.

I work with individuals, couples, and families on a variety of issues including relationships, identity, life transitions, and complex family dynamics. I specialize in working with and supporting couples, young adults, survivors of intimate partner abuse, parents breaking cycles of generational trauma, and LGBTQIA+ clients.

Our work is like unfolding a map together – learning the landscape of your inner world, recognizing the paths you’ve walked, and thoughtfully choosing the direction you want to move in. The therapy process can help you develop greater awareness of your emotions, deepen compassion for yourself and others, and gain additional tools for understanding and improving relational dynamics. My approach to therapy is grounded in collaboration and relationship, honoring your expertise in your own life. Some of the therapies which inform my work with clients are Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I am a cisgender white woman and a member of the queer community. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a teacher and principal in diverse communities. My years working with students and families taught me that positive relationships are essential to emotional health and resilience. These experiences also shaped my ability to see people within the broader systems they move through, including families, schools, communities, and societal structures. A systems lens continues to shape my therapeutic work, and I aim to affirm all of the parts of your identity as an essential part of your story.

I deeply respect the courage it takes to reach out. Change grows from strengths you already carry within you. Accompanying you as a support on your journey is an honor.
