Hello, my name is Alexis Emery (she/her).
Perhaps you have spent much of your life trying to understand where you come from, where you belong, and who you want to become. You may carry family patterns or generational wounds that shaped you long before you had words for them. Even when you are determined to create a different life, it can be difficult to know what to hold onto and what you are ready to leave behind. Therapy can offer a space where every part of your story is welcome as you begin finding a path that feels more aligned.
My approach is warm, collaborative, person-centered, and trauma-informed. I believe meaningful change can grow through a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. Healing does not require having all the answers, it can begin with curiosity, connection, and feeling safe enough to explore your experiences at your own pace. As a counseling student intern, I bring compassion, authenticity, and a commitment to meeting you where you are while continuing to learn under the supervision of experienced clinicians.
As an Ojibwe woman and tribal member of a sovereign Indigenous nation, my life path is rooted in Indigenous culture. I recognize that our identities, families, cultures, communities, relationships, and lived experiences shape how we move through the world and how we heal. I strive to offer culturally responsive care rooted in humility and respect, recognizing that distress does not exist separately from the environments and systems surrounding us.
I have a particular interest in relational-cultural and trauma-informed therapy and in supporting Indigenous and BIPOC individuals, LGBTQ2S+ community members, neurodivergent people, and those who have felt misunderstood, different, or outside dominant expectations. Clients of all identities and backgrounds are warmly welcomed.
Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and you do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. Wherever you are in your journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you as we work
