My name is Alexandria (she/her). I will work with you to mend relationships, attune to your deepest needs, and nurture a love of self. First, we will uncover what stories you tell about yourself. We will call on parts of you who have been hidden, parts who have been pulled into unfulfilling roles, and parts who you can lean into for the deepest support you have ever known. The elements of a new internal world are all there, a world that is empowering, liberating, and true. I believe that all humans are constantly seeking growth, and I invite you into a mindset that promotes the best of you.
I apply a relational lens to all my clients, whether you come as an individual, couple, or family. We will work to understand how your family of origin and cultural influences shape you, freeing you to choose how you show up in the world. My couples work takes this a step further; you and your partner or partners will learn to see the architecture of your own emotional influences and needs. With time and compassion, the doors of intimacy will reopen to one another. The goal is for you and your partner(s) to turn cues that say “get away from me” into “hold me closer”.
My approach is intuitive, grounded, and warm, inviting moments that challenge your assumptions with true care and respect. From years of teaching yoga, I have a deep regard for the connection between mind and body. I will often ask you to consider, can you tune in to what you feel in the body? Can you step out of judgement and into curiosity, to hear what you need in this moment? This will support our larger work, as we practice awareness that every thought and emotion has a physical, embodied component.
I favor somatic, emotions-focused, and Internal Family Systems approaches. This unique blend allows your purest senses to lead, rather than the thinking mind, or an “expert” who gives you the answer. You will learn to trust your own knowing.
I’ve have experience with populations who have survived sexual assault, particularly demographics often over-looked: survivors of childhood trauma, male survivors, and all people with layered identities and complex needs. I work closely with those who have been involved in the foster care system. When working with families who support minors, or any family where great care is needed to maintain safety, I work from an allyship that calls in greater support at every opportunity.
Therapy is a long road, and choosing who to invite on that journey is the first step. I hope to be a companion to you on this difficult and rewarding trek. In the words of Bilbo Baggins, “It’s dangerous business, Frodo, going out you door. You step onto the road, and there’s no knowing where you’ll be swept off to!”
