Rach Junard

Hello and welcome! I’m Rach (they/them). No matter where you are in your counseling journey, I am glad you are here.

Though I’m originally from the United Kingdom, I grew up in Tennessee in a Nigerian household. I identify as a Black queer femme and deeply believe in the power of community and have a deep appreciation for the power we can create when community and healing work in tandem. I have seen transformative change take place when we are made aware of our processes and recognize the systems we live in. I became a counselor because I believe in working with those closest to pain should have adequate resources of care. I have experience and understanding of how most systems don’t work for those most marginialized. Though I don’t believe that counseling is the only way towards healing, I believe it plays a part. I specifically believe in the emphasis of community care and working collaboratively with our local resources.

I am passionate about working with individuals and couples who may live with complex trauma, and/or are first generation immigrants, Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and queer, and gender nonconforming persons. I recognize the importance one’s contexts has on their lived experiences and see the interaction between systems and people. I am passionate about working with clients who are first generation and deal with anxiety. I also work with clients who have experienced racial trauma, generational trauma, and those going through identity changes around sex and gender.

I come to sessions with a sense of curiosity, warmth and transparency. I use modalities like Somatics, Gestalt and EMDR (eye movement desenzitation and reprocessing) as guiderails, but as the client, I follow your lead. I will create a space for you to feel both challenged and supported as you work through understanding your processes. Though we may do individual work together, I seek to understand the ecosystems you inhabit so that I may fully understand and see you as a whole person.
