Hello, my name is Angelo (they/them; he/him) and I am currently pursuing a Masters in Counseling. I believe that each person has the capacity to heal, grow, and live an authentic and meaningful life. I endeavor to create an environment in which you will feel valued, understood, and supported to work through the challenges in your life and feel empowered to live your life as fully as possible, to experiment and change.
My style is warm, collaborative, active, engaged, non-judgmental and curious. I’ve been told I have a demeanor that puts people at ease, but I can also be direct (I’m from the East Coast). I like inviting humor and creativity into the room when appropriate. Music and genuine connections with people are the most meaningful aspects of my life.
Honoring your unique strengths, lived experiences, choices, and identities is important to me, as well as recognizing the effects of systemic oppression on one’s mental, emotional, and physical health. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; I will work collaboratively with you to identify what is most important to you and what you most desire to create in your life and write into your story.
My practice is grounded in a social justice and liberation framework. My career prior to pursuing counseling was in social justice and racial justice nonprofits, and liberation remains at the center of my worldview and personal-professional life today.
I hold both privileged and marginalized identities as a white, transgender (transmasculine), queer person who grew up in a rural area. I am no stranger to working through internalized oppression, shame, loss, big transitions, grief, and other complex life experiences, and I believe that you shouldn’t have to hold life’s pain and challenges all on your own. You deserve someone to walk beside you for part of your journey.
